Leeds old-boy Lennon would be better fit than James if Bielsa secures promotion

Leeds United want to bring former winger Aaron Lennon back to Elland Road next season, according to the Sun.

They report that Marcelo Bielsa has already checked about bringing the Burnley man in at the end of the current campaign.

The former England international is currently suffering with an injury problem that could apparently keep him out until the end of the season and Bielsa is hopeful that may make Burnley create plans without him and make him available for an emotional return to Yorkshire.

Bielsa was keen to improve his wide options in the transfer window just gone, and the Telegraph reported last week how Leeds were furious when the move for Swansea winger Daniel James collapsed in the closing hours of deadline day.

And if Leeds are in the Premier League next season, Lennon is the better option to have – provided he can get over his injury problems.

The Whites are a hugely-exciting side but they do not have much top flight experience in their ranks. Although its importance is often overstated, they do need some and Lennon would provide that.

James has plenty of potential and can improve but asking him to make an impact in the Premier League would have been a big ask, but Lennon can do that, as he has shown over many years now.
