Leeds United travel to Deepdale on Tuesday night in the Championship to face Preston North End and know they will need to be at their best to earn three points.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team currently sit second in the table after beating Birmingham at the weekend and are expected to be in the hunt for automatic promotion.
Preston suffered their first league defeat since August in a 1-0 loss to Reading, but they sit sixth in the table and play some attractive football usually.
They are a team that usually shade possession and have plenty of creative threats, which is why they are the top scorers in the division.
Daniel Johnson is the glue to the Preston side in attack and is the main threat that Leeds need to try keep a lid on.
The attacking midfielder has played 12 games across all competitions so far this season, scoring seven goals and supplying five assists in return.
He is a goal machine that is a great dribbler when driving forward and has proven his composure in front of goal too.
Leeds boss Bielsa will be well aware of the Preston talisman and fortunately he has a weapon in his team that should look to nullify him.
Phillips demonstrated the offensive side of his game by scoring the winner against Birmingham at the weekend, but he’s renowned for breaking up play in front of the defence and it’s something he will be needed for against Preston.
He should stick tight to tricky customer Johnson and try mark him out of the fixture.
