Leeds need to emulate Wolves in Championship this season

Leeds United were hammered 4-1 away at West Brom at the weekend and will now have the internatonal break to regroup after falling back down to earth.

The most important thing now for Marcelo Bielsa’s side is how they respond and launching a winning streak in the Championship is the perfect way to do so.

They could do with following Wolves’ blueprint from last season, who responded to their own 4-1 defeat by picking up the form that led them to the Championship title and a return to the Premier League.

Wolves were thrashed 4-1 against Aston Villa in March last season and at the time still had 10 league games to play to keep their lead at the top of the table.

They bounced back from the loss by winning seven of their next eight games and that mentality saw them win automatic promotion.

Leeds need a strong reaction to the West Brom result and a winning run should get them firmly back on track.

The Yorkshire giants are still third in the league standings and three points adrift of leaders Norwich City, which most supporters would have been pleased with at the beginning of the season if offered.

The real contenders for promotion are beginning to take shape in the Championship and Leeds are going to need a purple patch of form at some point to get over the line.
