Leeds United could reportedly lose top scorer Kemar Roofe this summer for a bargain £7million as Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht look to push through a deal – and Marcelo Bielsa may need another favour from Tottenham.
The Daily Mail claim the 26-year-old is attracting interest from Anderlecht, after Kompany lost striker Ivan Santini to the Chinese Super League. Roofe has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Elland Road.
The chance to play in a side that are challenging for Jupiler League titles and are flirting between Champions League and Europa League qualification, as well as the lure of playing under Kompany, is hard to turn down.
Leeds have six days to bring in a replacement, and even less if they intend to use the money spent by Anderlecht on Roofe. It gives them little time to sign a new striker, even with the whirlwind that is deadline day.
Two seasons ago, Leeds sold Chris Wood with little time to spare. They brought in Pierre-Michel Lasogga from Hamburg, and he managed just 10 goals throughout the entire 2017-18 campaign.

Leeds need to act fast, but they must not hurriedly bring in a striker for big money – Lasogga’s wages were enormous – and see him struggle. They need to make the right signing, or loan a player who is on a small pay packet.
So, a loan from a trusted friend in the game, may give Bielsa that assurance that he has signed a decent replacement. Mauricio Pochettino is that friend, and his young gun striker Troy Parrott could be the replacement.
Parrott, 17, starred for Spurs during pre-season and is already considered one of the best strikers in England at his age. He hit the post against Real Madrid this week in the Audi Cup.
Quick, strong and very gifted with the ball at his feet, Parrott is very much like Roofe and though young, he would score in the Championship. Even Robbie Keane believed the player needs a loan, when talking to the Irish Sun.
If Roofe does leave, Bielsa should ask for another favour from Tottenham and Pochettino – after Jack Clarke returned on loan – in the form of a loan for Parrott.
