Leeds must seriously consider Everton interest in Pearce after latest Bielsa snub

Leeds United defender Tom Pearce is out of favour under Marcelo Bielsa.

Despite injuries at the back, Bielsa is exploring options that do not include Pearce in the starting line-up.

With Barry Douglas on the sidelines, many Leeds fans expected to see Pearce recalled to the starting XI.

The 20-year-old established himself as a regular towards the end of last season under Paul Heckingbottom, scoring once in five league games.

But this season, he has been limited to just four matches and just two substitute cameos in the Championship.

Instead of starting Pearce, Bielsa has tried Jamie Shackleton, Ezgjan Alioski and Stuart Dallas in the full-back positions.

Considering that these players are naturally more suited to midfield, it shows that Bielsa has little faith in Pearce.

The England under-20 international was given his chance yesterday as Luke Ayling had to come off in the 25th minute.

But he was then substituted in the 65th minute for Jack Clarke as Leeds chased an equaliser.

According to reports today in the print edition of The Sun (via HITC), Everton and Bournemouth could reignite their interest in Pearce.

And while Leeds did all they could to keep him this summer, perhaps now is the time to seriously consider offers.

If Everton come in with a serious bid for their former academy man, then Leeds must consider selling.

Bielsa is building his own squad and Pearce’s chances of first-team football are looking increasingly slim.
