When Lewie Coyle returns to Leeds United in January, it is time to blood him into the first-team.
The Leeds academy product has more than earned his shot at establishing himself in the Leeds side.
Last season, he spent the entire year on loan at Fleetwood Town in League One and earned many plaudits.
Many Leeds fans speculated that Coyle may be given a chance to shine for the 2018/19 season, especially when he played a key role in pre-season preparations.
But Marcelo Bielsa decided that the youngster was not quite ready.
Coyle was sent back on loan to Fleetwood, where he will stay until January.
But rather than extending the 22-year-old’s stay with the Trawlermen, Bielsa needs to integrate him into the Leeds side.
Granted he may not be a regular starter, given Luke Ayling’s form. But he is a more than capable back-up.
And Coyle’s versatility makes him an asset on the bench. He could play on either flank or at full-back on both sides.
Coyle is a boyhood Leeds fan and to play for the first-team would be his dream.
His time at Fleetwood has proven that he is too good for League One level and he could really push to get into this Leeds side.
January should be the time that Bielsa picks Coyle in his first-team squad.
