With Leeds United now set for the Premier League, attention will have turned to which players the Whites should look to bring to Elland Road.

One area which Marcelo Bielsa is sure to strength is in attack, with Patrick Bamford proving somewhat inconsistent and Jean-Kevin Augustin having little influence since his arrival.

While Leeds will benefit from a much higher budget in the top flight, and Bielsa is a big draw for sure, the Whites will nonetheless have to be fairly realistic and shrewd in the market.

The answer could be just 230-odd miles up north, with Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos looking tailor-made for a big move to England.

The 24-year-old is one of the Scottish Premiership’s standout talents, having weighed in with an impressive 77 goals and 29 assists for Rangers since his move to Ibrox from HJK Helsinki in 2017.

Morelos’ goal contributions – 29 and 10 in all competitions in 2019-20 – have helped Rangers climb back into the upper echelons of the Scottish Premiership table and mount title challenges in the past few years.

So, what makes him a good fit for Leeds?

Aside from his prolific goalscoring tally, not to mention a decent amount of assists, he’s a great dribbler, pacey, plays with both feet, has an eye for goal and is physical and strong, making him a good fit to break through Premier League defences.

Leeds fans love hard-working, passionate players who give their all for the shirt, and Morelos absolutely fits in this category – goals, hard work and passion will make him an Elland Road fan favourite in no time.

Admittedly Morelos has had discipline issues in the past, but Jermain Defoe told The Beautiful Game podcast that his teammate is now in a situation where his reputation is counting against him, as well as saying that it’s been hard for him because “he is home alone, his English isn’t the best and he probably misses his family.”

This is where the Bielsa factor comes in – the Argentine is known for being one of the best coaches and man-managers in the game, and with both being South American and Spanish speakers, this could make Morelos feel more at home.

Now, for the price – according to The Scottish Sun, Lazio have expressed an interest in Morelos, who was deemed a £20million target – not exactly cheap but, for a Premier League newcomer, not overly expensive either.

Leeds and Morelos sound like a perfect match and hopefully Bielsa, Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta can look further into a possible move.
