Leeds may have inadvertently set Marcelo Bielsa up for his next job – Our View
Marcelo Bielsa is reportedly on the radar of Bournemouth who are considering asking him to take over as their new manager.
Bielsa is of course a Leeds United legend and has been out of work since he was replaced by Jesse Marsch last season.
The Athletic claim he could be set for a comeback to the Premier League as the Cherries look to avoid relegation.
They report that he is on their shortlist as they look for a manager to take over from Gary O’Neil after the mid-season break for the World Cup.
Bielsa on Bournemouth radar
Leeds fans would of course have an interest if Bielsa did come back to England, but their next meeting with Bournemouth is not until April.
They played each other last weekend, as Leeds came from 3-1 down to win 4-3 in a dramatic fightback at Elland Road.
That was the second game in a row Bournemouth had let a two-goal lead slip, as O’Neil’s early momentum begins to fade.
That result may have pushed Bournemouth to look into getting Bielsa, with Leeds inadvertently pushing their legendary former boss towards his next job.
On top of that, it may also have cemented Jesse Marsch’s job security as he has earned two vital Premier League wins at a time when his role was under scrutiny.
If Marsch is more locked in and Bielsa is at the Vitality Stadium, that would also put paid to any notion of a glorious comeback to Elland Road.
