Report: Leeds have made contact over £18m powerhouse deemed the 'ideal centre-forward'

Leeds United have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Kosovo international striker Vedat Muriqi.

The Whites have struggled in front of goal this season, netting just 21 times in 19 Premier League games.

Therefore, there’s scope for Leeds to bring a new forward to Elland Road in the January transfer window.

And according to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Whites are now eyeing the Biancocelesti powerhouse.

The Italian outlet claims Leeds have registered their interest in Muriqi over the past few hours.

Hull were apparently eyeing the 27-year-old but have decided to move on to other targets.

Regarding Leeds, the article title states they “think of Muriqi” and have a “formula” to sign him.

In addition, the Whites reportedly want him on loan.

Within the report, it claims “the interest of Leeds has been registered in recent hours” shortly after Hull dropped theirs.

Could Leeds land the “ideal centre-forward” in the January transfer window?

He shone for both Caykur Rizespor and Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Lig in 2018-19 and 2019-20.

Muriqi scored 17 goals in 34 league appearances for the former, and 15 in 32 league appearances for the latter.

In 2019, Turkey icon Rustu Recber described Muriqi as the “ideal centre-forward”.

And in 2020, Damien Comolli deemed the 6ft 4in ace good enough to play for “any team in England”.

Lazio paid Fenerbahce a reported £18million to sign Muriqi in September 2020.

However, he’s recently fallen out of favour in Rome, often having to make do with a place on the bench.
