Jean-Kevin Augustin has claimed that his first experience of being at Elland Road for a Leeds United game was extraordinary, and insisted that it has left him ready to die for the club, in a press conference posted on the Whites’ Twitter account.

Augustin became the Championship promotion-chasers’ latest signing at the start of the week. His arrival came too soon for the striker to feature in Tuesday’s clash with Millwall.

But he was able to take a seat in the stands. And he was treated to an evening and performance that summed up Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds quite perfectly.

The Whites were sensational and pulsating at times. But the game started in nightmare fashion with the Lions taking an early 2-0 lead.

But Leeds came back at the start of the second-half to win 3-2. It was a victory that has taken the club back to the top of the Championship.

But it was also a win that has clearly made a massive impression on Augustin, who expressed his excitement to get out onto the pitch after getting a taste of the atmosphere.

“Amazing. Extraordinary just to be in the stands and experience that. I don’t know what it will be like to be down there on the field. Looking forward to it. It was amazing, amazing how from the first minute to the 90th minute, how they drove the team forward, pushed them on and supported the team,” he said.

“They had the setback of conceding twice early on. Yet with the help of the fans, they fought back to win 3-2. It was an amazing feeling from the stands and really does make you want to die for the club and die for the team. So I can’t wait to get out and play in front of them.”

Leeds fans will certainly love Augustin’s comments. On paper, it looks to be a massive coup for the Whites to sign the 22-year-old.

He has only played at the highest level in both France and Germany during his career so far. And yet, there appears to be absolutely no complacency or arrogance after moving into England’s second tier.

He sounds determined to secure hero status during his time at Leeds. Scoring the goals that take the Whites to the Premier League will certainly ensure that he has that.
