Leeds United fans have been given reason to get incredibly excited about Cody Drameh with the right-back being labelled ‘special’ and ‘frightening’ following his latest performance for Cardiff City on Wednesday.

Drameh has been vindicated in many respects for wanting to leave to get minutes under his belt. The 20-year-old has started every Championship game he has been available for since joining the Bluebirds.

Cardiff actually went a goal down against Stoke through former Leeds loanee Lewis Baker. However, by half-time, the game had been turned around. And Drameh certainly played his part.

He provided the assist for the winner from Jordan Hugill.

Drameh’s statistics from the game are outrageously good. He made more key passes than any other player on the pitch, according to Whoscored.

Meanwhile, he also led the way for successful dribbles and tackles. In fact, he made twice the number of challenges of any other Cardiff player.

Unsurprisingly, Wales Online named Drameh as their man of the match and handed the defender a 9/10 rating. And their summary of his display will delight the Elland Road faithful.

“This lad is special, frightening, even. Was on it from minute one and caused Stoke all sorts of bother all night. Played a key part in Hugill’s goal,” Wales Online wrote.

Drameh gearing up for breakout year at Leeds

Drameh received a taste of first-team football at Leeds this season. He featured against the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal. And he managed to show some of his promise.

Marcelo Bielsa was not too happy to see him leave in January. But obviously, Drameh will return to a drastically different club when he heads back to Leeds.

Jesse Marsch is now in place. And with that, the right-back has a clean slate. Perhaps, next year could prove to be a real breakout year for Drameh at Leeds.

Luke Ayling’s form has been criticised at times this season. And based on what Drameh is showing at Cardiff, he is ready to push him. Perhaps a changing of the guard could take place in the coming years.
