Leeds-leaning pundit predicts where West Brom will finish in the table

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has given his thoughts on where he reckons Leeds United’s Championship title competitors will finish in the table (Sky Sports).

As per last year, the race for promotion and the playoffs is proving enthralling, with teams shifting in places all the time.

As things stand, Slaven Bilic’s West Brom are in a rich vein of form after a blip earlier this year, and sit top of the table, four points clear of Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Leeds have also put a recent downturn in form behind them, with two league wins in a row establishing a five-point gap between the Whites and third-placed Fulham.

Prutton, who used to play for the Elland Road side and is fairly Leeds-leaning, nonetheless reckons the Whites’ title rivals will pip Bielsa and co to top spot come the end of game 46.

Looking ahead to the Baggies’ meeting with Preston at The Hawthorns on Tuesday night, Prutton wrote on Sky Sports: “I’ve been really impressed with the Baggies’ professional approach since their slump late last year and I’m certainly struggling to look past them for the title with 12 games left to play, but they’ll certainly miss Romaine Sawyers, who is suspended for this one.

“Like their hosts, North End are in a rich vein of form. They currently occupy the final play-off spot and will no doubt have designs on finishing there or thereabouts come May, but I just think West Brom will have too much for them.”

TBR View:

West Brom have indeed hit a rich vein of form and are looking back to their best, unbeaten in their last five, and they put Bristol City to the sword at the weekend, so tipping them for the title seems fair enough.

While Leeds also seem back on track, with two league wins in a row behind them, they do have more issues within their team than West Brom – putting away chances is still very much an Achilles’ heel for the Whites.

However, with 36 points left to play for, a lot can happen over the remaining 12 games – West Brom have definitely shown vulnerabilities over the course of the season and even though they’re doing well at present, the title is by no means a foregone conclusion.
