Leeds’ Jamie Shackleton expresses excitement for return on Instagram

Jamie Shackleton has taken to Instagram to suggest that he cannot wait to return to action in a post that Leeds United fans will hope is a sign that he may not be too far away.

The 19-year-old has not featured for Marcelo Bielsa’s side since the start of October. The Leeds boss confirmed ahead of the clash with Blackburn Rovers that he was suffering with a muscular injury (via Leeds Live).

The worrying aspect of the problem was that Bielsa suggested that it was a different issue to the one that had initially ruled him out.

But perhaps his latest social media is reason for encouragement. The youngster has taken to Instagram to suggest that he is itching to get back playing.

Can’t wait to get back out there ⚽️

It is obviously not a given that Shackleton is close to a return. His absence from the under-23 side that faced Barnsley on Monday is arguably a much more telling sign.

However, it would perhaps be a surprise if the midfielder made that post when he still had some way to go before he is back.

Leeds fans will hope that it is not long before Shackleton is back. He has been excellent whenever he has played for the first-team. And he looked to have a fantastic opportunity to secure a fairly regular spot ahead of his most recent run in the side.

The academy graduate showed glimpses of brilliance in that midfield role linking Kalvin Phillips and the attacking players. And with Adam Forshaw also sidelined, it would be a major boost for Bielsa if Shackleton’s return was imminent.
