Leeds’ high intensity style shows no signs of slowing down just yet

Leeds United beat Wigan 2-1 on Sunday to go back to the top of the Championship, but it was not either of their goals that grabbed the most attention in the immediate aftermath of the match.

A passage of play which saw no fewer than seven Whites players hunt back ferociously in order to regain possession and snuff out a counter attack was picked out and ended up going viral.

It looks like a coach’s dream and indicates how committed the current squad is to putting Marcelo Bielsa’s high energy gameplan into action and earning promotion this season.

The clip also sends a message out to Leeds’ rivals; that this is a united squad that works hard off the ball and has the fitness to carry out their manager’s demands.

The big fear is that Leeds will run out of steam come the end of the season and to that end, there are two schools of thought on the clip.

The first is that Leeds show no signs of slowing up; they are in this Championship title race to win it and are prepared to do whatever it takes to get there.

The cynics will no doubt ask if Bielsa’s side can keep that up all season, but perhaps they’re clutching at straws.

Leeds continue to defy the doubters and if they maintain the discipline shown in that viral clip, they will not be too far away come the end of the season.
