Eddie Gray has told LUTV that he noticed how shell-shocked Huddersfield’s bench looked during the second-half of Leeds United’s win at Elland Road earlier this month, and suggested that they would have taken the 2-0 defeat at one stage.
Leeds went into their clash with the Terriers looking to extend their winning run to five games. But Danny Cowley’s side went into the contest off the back of their own impressive run. They had won their previous two.

But, while the visitors did cause a few problems during the first-half, Leeds showed why they are battling near the top of the table.
Goals from Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford ensured that they secured another victory. And it prompted Cowley to offer some incredibly gracious words following the contest (via Yorkshire Live).

And following the game, Gray shared what he noticed about the away bench during the second-half as Leeds largely strolled to another three points.
“I watched that Huddersfield team and I was watching their bench in the second-half. And the manager and the coach looked shell-shocked,” he told LUTV.
“They didn’t look as if they had an answer. I think they were thinking with 20 minutes to go, ‘we’ll stop the game now and take 2-0, it could be five or six’. I think that’s what they thought because they never tried to change anything. They were just thinking, ‘please hang on and make it look respectable’.”
TBR View – Leeds have found another gear
Cowley’s stock as a developing manager is arguably incredibly high. So it would say a lot about Leeds if he indeed felt that he had no answers to combat Bielsa’s men.
But the performance represented how Leeds appear to have found another gear in recent times.
It remains to be seen how the season will conclude. But, if there is more football to be played, it is difficult to see Leeds failing to clear the hurdle that tripped them up last season.
