If you think of the best bargain signings at Leeds United in recent years, Mateusz Klich is one of the individuals that springs to mind immediately.

The Whites signed the all-action central midfielder for just £1.5million (Yorkshire Evening Post) back in 2017.

Aged 30, Klich is a regular starter this season in the Premier League, and was an integral part of the brilliant squad that achieved promotion from the Championship last year.

Leeds may though have someone else in the squad who’s an even bigger bargain.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa strengthened his group at the start of the season with the capture of a few fresh faces.

Undoubtedly, Brazilian attacker Raphinha has been the pick of the bunch.

Leeds signed Raphinha for £17million (BBC) from Rennes last summer, which right now looks like a genius piece of business.

Despite the fact he cost an eight-figure sum, there is an argument that he’s an even bigger bargain than Klich.

If the left-footed winger continues performing like he has in recent months, his transfer valuation is going to soar, and Leeds could make a colossal profit on him if they ever decided to cash in.

The 24-year-old wide player has five goals and five assists across all competitions so far this season, but those numbers don’t do him justice.

He’s Leeds’ go-to player in most games, and the skilful South American looks a class above at times.

His performances this season have not gone unnoticed, with the Mirror reporting that reigning Premier League champions Liverpool are interested in trying to sign him in the summer window.

Leeds must do everything they can to keep him at Elland Road next season, but a player of his quality is naturally going to draw the elite due to his ability.

It looks like Leeds pulled off a masterstroke with his £17million deal.
