Leeds United may have just received a boost in their pursuit of Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow this January.
According to the Sun, the Whites and Championship club Aston Villa are both keen on the Premier League £4million-rated shot-stopper when the window opens in the New Year.
But Villa’s attention may have now turned elsewhere in a £7million twist and left the goal wide open for Leeds to try wrap up a deal for Darlow.
According to the Telegraph, Villa are close to securing a £7million move for goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic from Belgian club Gent.
The Croatia international is set to have a medical with the Midlands club on Thursday ahead of a sensational switch to the Championship.

Leeds’ path towards Darlow seems clear and they need another option in goal to compete with Bailey Peacock-Farrell, as they lost loanee Jamal Blackman to a serious long-term injury in November.
Darlow has struggled for minutes at St James’ Park this season with just one cup appearances, but could be a top addition at Elland Road.
The 28-year-old has a wealth of Championship experience from time with Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, which is why he’d be the perfect competition for Peacock-Farrell in the second half of the season.
