Leeds have got to be on red alert with Arsenal reportedly willing to sell player – TBR View

Arsenal could reportedly sell defender Rob Holding this summer despite a string of impressive performances from the centre-back since the restart – and Leeds United have got to be on red alert.

Holding, 24, started six of Arsenal’s last nine league games – helping the Gunners win four matches and keep two clean sheets. A £2.5million (Mail) signing from Bolton, Holding has played 77 times for Arsenal.

His performances of late have been excellent, even keeping David Luiz out of the Gunners side at times. According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (26/7; page 65), Holding has been included on a list of players that could be sold.

Meanwhile, Leeds United need central defenders. The Championship title-winners remain keen on signing Ben White permanently, but the chances are that White will either stay at Brighton – or go to a bigger club.

Even if White stays at Elland Road, Leeds still need another centre-back. Gaetano Berardi’s contract has ended, leaving just Liam Cooper as the only recognised central defender. Pascal Struijk and Olly Casey are still unproven.

The Whites need a central defender, then. Argentina internationals Juan Foyth and Lucas Martinez Quarta have been linked with a move to Elland Road – but Foyth has struggled in England while Quarta is yet to leave Argentina.

A proven Premier League defender should be brought to Leeds and Holding could be ideal. With 39 top-tier outings to his name and some excellent form in the Premier League since the restart, Holding would be a top signing.

Leeds should be on red alert if Arsenal are ready to sell Holding.
