Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has worked wonders with a number of players since his arrival at Elland Road and many have taken their game to a new level under his reign.
The Whites sit top of the Championship table during the break due to the coronavirus outbreak and will hope the season can conclude to help them achieve automatic promotion to the Premier League.
A number of individuals have shown their class throughout the campaign and one player that has shown how far he’s come is defender Luke Ayling.
Ayling previously came through the academy ranks at Arsenal, before making his way into the senior football with Yeovil Town and then Bristol City.
Leeds signed the defender for £750,000-a-week (Daily Mail) in 2016 from Bristol City and he’s certainly become a fan favourite at Elland Road since, plus his transfer cost now looks a genius piece of business.
Ayling now looks an absolute steal for just a six-figure price and he’s played a major role in the club’s promotion bid.
The attack-minded right-back has scored four goals and supplied four assists in the league so far this campaign, with his tireless runs forward so crucial to the system.
He’s also been a consistent part of a backline that has been the best defensively in the Championship this season and there is no doubt his one-on-one defending has improved.
If Leeds do earn promotion to the Premier League, there is a strong case to suggest he should be given a shot in the top-flight and his transfer value must have soared now.
