Barry Douglas will play no further part in Leeds United’s bid to gain promotion from the Championship after the club confirmed he ruptured the ligaments in his knee during Saturday’s 3-2 win over Millwall.
That victory at Elland Road took Leeds back into the top two but Douglas can do no more to try and take the club into the Premier League – the division he gave up the chance to play in by dropping back into the second tier last summer.
But Douglas underwent surgery today and tweeted afterwards to say that the procedure was a success and thank the fans for all their best wishes.
Needless to say, the tributes poured in from Leeds fans who are content with the contribution of a player who has had to battle with numerous injury issues this season.

They hope that the next time they see the Scot, he will be a Premier League player and Leeds will be a Premier League team.
Everyone connected with the club will be hoping that Douglas makes a full and speedy recovery and we’ve put together some of the messages of support…
