In the 2016/17 season, Leeds United had Matt Grimes on loan from Swansea City.
Grimes came with a big reputation, having shone for Exeter City in the lower leagues early in his career.
But as Leeds mounted a play-off push, Grimes struggled to settle in at Elland Road.
The midfield man’s loan ended with just 12 appearances to his name – and only seven of those came in the league.
Last season, he was sent to Northampton Town in League One and was part of the squad that was relegated to League Two.
It appeared that his Swansea future looked bleak after his poor spell at Leeds but following the Welsh side’s relegation, he has been handed a lifeline.

The 23-year-old has reinvented himself as a left-back and he is now one of the most valuable members of this Swansea side.
Graham Potter has placed his faith in the ex-England under-21 international and it appears to be paying off.
And Leeds fans will be shocked to discover that Grimes is doing so well at Championship level, just two years after looking out of his depth.
Grimes couldn’t get a game under Garry Monk at Leeds but with a bit of faith, he has proven his worth.
