Leeds fans were far from happy as Bielsa subbed Raphinha for Roberts
Leeds fans weren’t happy with Bielsa’s Raphinha sub.
The Whites watched on as they made it six games without a win yesterday.
The Elland Road faithful surrendered a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1, courtesy of a late Michail Antonio winner.
It was definitely an afternoon to forget for Leeds, who could see the result coming when the game turned on one key moment.
For those supporters, it was when Marcelo Bielsa replaced his key man, Raphinha, with the inconsistent Tyler Roberts.
The Welshman came off the bench and didn’t do an awful lot.
He entered the action just minutes after West Ham had forced in an equaliser.
Junior Firpo had deflected in Jarrod Bowen’s effort and the writing was on the wall for the fans.
Raphinha has been Leeds’ best player this season by a long shot.
Leeds fans weren’t happy with Bielsa’s Raphinha sub
He’s a top player and one of the best outside of the ‘top six’ clubs.
However, he was clearly carrying an injury and wasn’t going to last 90 minutes.
Even so, the fans were far from happy to see that he was replaced by Roberts.
The youngster is yet to convince the fans that he has what it takes for the Premier League.
In a crunch game against West Ham yesterday, he did himself no favours.
A lot of fans will point to a lack of depth in the squad,
With the ever-impressive youngster Joe Gelhardt on the bench, though, the fans didn’t want to see Roberts.
Should Bielsa be able to get this Leeds side off the mark next weekend against Watford then the fans will be quickly back onside.
However, until then the fans will be left lamenting the decision to bring Robert on.
