Leeds United secured promotion after Emile Smith-Rowe scored the winner for Huddersfield Town against West Bromwich Albion on Friday evening – and Leeds fans have reacted to West Ham star Robert Snodgrass’ Tweet.

The Whites earned a narrow 1-0 win over Barnsley on Thursday night and that meant they needed just a point from their remaining two fixtures to gain promotion. However, West Brom had to win to prevent Leeds from going up.

They failed to even nab a point against Huddersfield as Danny Cowley’s side secured all three with a late winner from Arsenal youngster Smith-Rowe. Dara O’Shea had cancelled out Chris Willock’s opener.

Snodgrass, 32, has applauded Leeds on Twitter following their return to the top – 16 years after relegation. The Scottish ace played 187 times for Leeds before joining Norwich, and posted a touching message.

Snodgrass, who joined West Ham in January 2017 for £10million (Reuters) has entered the final 12 months of his contract at West Ham and could be allowed to leave in the coming months.

Leeds fans were sent into complete hysteria following Smith-Rowe’s goal and many reacted to Snodgrass’ Tweet by urging the former Livingston and Hull City man to return to Elland Road.
