Leeds fans want Mateusz Bogusz to replace injured Jamie Shackleton

Leeds United have been dealt a double injury blow following the midweek victory at home to West Brom in the Championship.

The Whites have confirmed on their official website that centre-back Liam Cooper will miss up to six weeks with a groin problem and midfielder Jamie Shackleton is sidelined for up to four weeks with a hamstring injury.

Both were forced off in the win against West Brom and it leaves manager Marcelo Bielsa with decisions to make ahead of the trip to Millwall on Saturday before the international break.

Leeds captain Cooper is going to be a major loss in the heart of defence and his leadership is crucial at Elland Road.

But 19-year-old Shackleton is a box-to-box midfielder with brilliant energy and he’s proven his importance in recent times for the Yorkshire giants.

He is scheduled to miss four league matches if his predicted one month absence is correct and Bielsa needs to find a solution in the centre of the park.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media believe that Mateusz Bogusz is the player that can replace Shackleton.

The 18-year-old is a highly-rated  talent coming through the academy ranks that can fill a box-to-box role.

He is yet to make his senior league debut for Leeds and his only first-team appearance came in the Carabao Cup defeat to Stoke City earlier in the season.

The Polish midfielder is attack-minded and a key player for the Under-23s side, but it would be a huge leap up to the Championship.

Here are some Leeds fans asking for Bogusz to get a chance following Shackleton’s injury blow:
