Leeds fans want Kalvin Phillips contract talks wrapped up swiftly
Leeds United’s chief executive Angus Kinnear has confirmed that the club are in talks with Kalvin Phillips about a new contract – and some fans on Twitter have begged them to pay him what he wants to extend his stay.
His current deal with Elland Road expires in 2021, but he became a key figure last season following the arrival of manger Marcelo Bielsa.
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder helped pull the strings in front of the backline, which has seen Premier League clubs reportedly circle for him.
The Sun has reported Aston Villa’s interest in the £30million-rated maestro, while the Mirror credit Tottenham with interest this summer.
Kinnear has publicly explained that Leeds want to keep their academy graduate for the long-term and that discussions have begun.
“We want him to play in the Premier League for Leeds United,” he told BBC Sport.
“We are talking about a new contract. We want to keep all our best players and Kalvin is part of the plan.”

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media want contract talks to be concluded swiftly for Phillips, as he would be a massive loss to them.
He breaks up play in the centre of the park and his quality in possession helps impose Bielsa’s passing style.
Phillips played in a pre-season fixture against Manchester United on Wednesday, which the Premier League giants won 4-0.
Here are some Leeds fans on Phillips:

Then pay him what he’s worth to us and have done, this ownership has really gone down in my estimations this summer.

If they want Kalvin to play in the premiership with Leeds then we need to strengthen the team around him #lufc
