Leeds fans want Crysencio Summerville to start against Liverpool
A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that Crysencio Summerville was left out of the Whites’ last under-23 game – ahead of Sunday’s clash with Liverpool.
Both Leeds and Liverpool find themselves in bizarre positions right now amid the confusion surrounding their Brazilian players.
The Reds would need to make more changes. But Leeds would lose their best attacking player if Raphinha was banned from facing the Reds.
It leaves Marcelo Bielsa in a tricky position. For many, the obvious option would be to pick deadline day signing Dan James.
But if anyone is brave enough to leave a £25 million addition out of a game against Liverpool, it is surely Bielsa.
James has probably not even trained with his new teammates yet. He signed at the start of the international break. And he has been away with Wales since.
It could well be that James gets the nod. He is hardly rusty having featured for Manchester United and his country this season.
But some believe that the chance should actually go to Summerville – with some picking up on his absence from their Premier League Cup clash on Wednesday.
Admittedly, Mark Jackson did not name the strongest side. But if Summerville was available, he would have surely been in contention to feature.
For many, it is a sign that he will be in the squad this weekend. And plenty are hoping that the 19-year-old starts ahead of James against the Reds.
‘Would love to see it’: Leeds fans back Summerville to start against Liverpool
It would be a huge call to hand Summerville a debut ahead of James. But some clearly think it could well happen against Liverpool.
With that in mind, here is what some of the fans made of Summerville’s omission on Wednesday, as well as his chances of starting on Sunday…
No Summerville 👀

With Raphinha not allowed to play, you’d imagine Summerville might get a start 👀

I’d start summerville, James has to earn his place In the team. Summerville has surely earned his chance with raphinha out

Summerville, with James on the bench.
Summerville knows the system, and arguably deserves a chance

Summerville has to start imo if James doesn’t.

Would like to see Summerville but if it’s James, then so be it. If it’s Roberts, I might just stay in Peterborough services and get my mates to pick me up on the way back!

Had a thought. Raph out wrongly, Costa loaned out thank god, Bielsa don’t like starting players until he has had them in training for weeks, could it be finally time for Summerville sundays? Hell of a game to chuck him in at but would love to see it

Summerville knows the system if Raphinha is banned, James may need some U23’s action
