Leeds fans want attacker Raphinha start against Aston Villa

Leeds United travel to Aston Villa on Friday night in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have claimed they want to see Raphinha promoted to the starting XI.

The Yorkshire giants visit Villa Park to face an in-form side that have won four from four in the league so far this season.

After narrowly avoiding relegation from the top-flight last season, Dean Smith’s Villa have started the new campaign in brilliant touch and currently sit second in the table having played a game less than most teams.

Meanwhile, the Whites have accumulated seven points from their opening five league games, but suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media have suggested in the build up to the Villa game that summer signing Raphinha is given his first start.

Raphinha only completed a move to Elland Road at the beginning of October for £17million (BBC) from French club Rennes, who he performed superbly for last season to earn a move to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old is a left-footed Brazilian that made his debut with a brief cameo against Wolves and he’s someone fans are excited to watch in action.

He is a rapid winger that usually operates on the right flank, meaning he could be in direct competition with regular starter Helder Costa for a spot.

But the South American has the flexibility to play on both wings or more centrally if required, so it will be intriguing to see how manager Marcelo Bielsa uses him moving forward.
