Leeds fans unimpressed with Bielsa favourite despite late win over Reading

Leeds United recorded a fourth consecutive victory on Tuesday night as they beat Reading 1-0 away from home thanks to Jack Harrison’s late winner – but many Leeds fans have criticised Matuesz Klich for his performance in midfield.

In what was a pretty close encounter at the Madjeski Stadium, both sides had half-chances to take the lead but nothing clear cut. George Puscas could not connect with a low cross, while Stuart Dallas crashed an excellent 25-yarder off the bar.

Leeds were looking more and more dangerous as full-time approached. A John Swift free-kick was saved by Kiko Casilla, and the ball was won back by Harrison who fed Stuart Dallas. His excellent ball got Leeds going down the right flank.

Gjanni Alioksi fed Helder Costa and the Portugal international’s cross found the man that started the move at the back stick. Manchester City loanee Harrison came speeding in, timing his run to perfection, to earn the three points in the 87th minute.

Instead of a completely convincing performance that Leeds fans have come to expect from Marcelo Bielsa’s side, it was more of a smash-and-grab display. Indeed, Poland international Klich did not enjoy the best of performances in a Leeds shirt.

The 29-year-old continued a stunning run that has seen him start the last 63 league games for Leeds. But he looked tired, and was substituted by Bielsa in the 66th minute after having very little impact on the game.

His replacement, Alioski, was crucial in the equaliser, proving his substitution was the right move. Leeds fans took to Twitter to criticise the former FC Twente and Wolfsburg man, while some believe he is in need of a rest.
