Leeds United’s director of football Victor Orta has admitted that it’s likely to be a quiet January transfer window – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have reacted angrily to his comments.
Whites senior man Orta has discussed the possibility of bringing in new faces in January and explained it’s a difficult time
The Yorkshire giants currently sit third in the league table after 16 games and look like they could be right in the mix for automatic promotion.
But they were in a similar position last campaign and eventually fell away to fall in the play-offs, where they were beaten by Derby County in the semi-finals.
“We have made a conservative line in the summer, we will do it in winter. The new ones need time, in January there are few options and they have a certain type of matrix. We need intelligence, I can say that it will be a quiet market,” Orta told TuttoMercatoWeb.
“We have information and ideas but I believe little in the winter market. Only 25% of winter shots are successful, it’s incredible.”
A selection of Leeds supporters on social media are frustrated that there could be little business done in the New Year.
Marcelo Bielsa does have a strong squad that probably outweighs any other team in the division, but there has been such bad luck with injuries already this campaign and that’s likely to continue during a gruelling Championship.
A big-name arrival in the New Year is the type of boost that can kick teams onto promotion, but they may have to make do with what they have.
There is definitely enough quality in the side to get back to the top-flight, but keeping consistency is the ky.
Here are some Leeds fans responding to Orta’s comments about January:
What a surprise ?

You’d think there would be lessons learned from last season. Bet Brom bring in a proven goalscorer and paste the league

It’s only difficult if you make it difficult. The equation to me is simple. Strengthen in the right areas and we go up. Fail to do so and its groundhog day come what May! #lufc
