Luke Ayling is being tipped for a potential first call-up to the England squad tomorrow – and some Leeds United fans on Twitter are buzzing with the report about their defender.

According to the Guardian, England manager Gareth Southgate is considering including the 29-year-old in his squad for upcoming international games for the end of March.

The report adds that he’s also weighing up another first call-up for Leeds teammate Patrick Bamford.

If the two Whites players have read reports about themselves, it’s going to feel like a lifetime before the squad announcement is made on Thursday.

27-year-old striker Bamford is someone that has been grabbing headlines with his goals this season in the top flight, so it wouldn’t be the biggest shock if he gets England recognition.

But Ayling has always been someone that has gone under the radar until now.

The all-action right-back is adored by the Leeds fanbase, but outside of the club he’s not mentioned as one of the best full-backs in the top English division.

Ayling, 29, is one of several individuals that have made a seamless step up from the Championship, and can even fill in at centre-back if needed.
