Leeds United were left frustrated on Saturday afternoon as Sheffield Wednesday and Marcelo Bielsa’s side played out a 0-0 draw at Hillsborough – and some Whites fans believe the club miss a player like Samu Saiz.
Keiren Westwood made a number of excellent saves to keep out the likes of Patrick Bamford and others, while Jack Harrison’s low effort was cleared off the line. Steven Fletcher hit the bar, while Gjanni Alioski hit the post with a header.
Bielsa chose to start Bamford up front again, but he was withdrawn at half-time with the belief that he has suffered a knock. Eddie Nketiah struggled to provide the goalscoring touch required to secure three points against the Owls.
Bielsa started with Matuesz Klich and Stuart Dallas in central midfield as the duo got high up the park with Kalvin Phillips sitting deep. But neither the Poland ace or the Northern Ireland utility man could give any kind of creativity.
During Saiz’s spell at Elland Road, the playmaker not only had a hand in many goals – scoring 10 and laying on 12 in 58 outings, but the former Atletico Madrid star always looked capable of making things happen.
Leeds fans took to Twitter after the 0-0 draw with Garry Monk’s side away from home, which on paper seemed a decent result given Wednesda sitting in third before the game. Many believe the club miss a player like Saiz, to make something happen.
The player left the club for Girona in the summer in a £2.5million (YEP) move.
