Leeds fans tear into ‘liability’ after defeat to Norwich

Leeds United suffered a crushing defeat to Norwich City on Saturday evening – and many of the club’s supporters singled out defender Luke Ayling for major criticism after the result.

The Whites were outclassed in a 3-1 loss at Elland Road against Norwich, who leapfrogged them in the Championship table to become the new league leaders.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team couldn’t cope with their opponents, who scored goals through Mario Vrancic (two) and Teemu Pukki to earn three points.

Substitute Patrick Bamford did net a late consolation for the hosts, but it was a timely wake up call that there is still huge work for the Yorkshire giants to do if they want promotion this season.

A selection of Leeds fans on social media were frustrated with Ayling for his individual performance in the league defeat.

The 27-year-old right-back was caught out several times defensively by a fluent Norwich, while going forward he was nowhere near his best.

He has showed during this time at Elland Road that he can be dangerous bombing forward, but the full-back looks off the pace right now and was sloppy in possession several times.
