Leeds fans take to Twitter to bemoan Bamford's lack of minutes in England win

Leeds United are starting to make a splash on the international scene.

Earlier in the week we all saw Kalvin Phillips named as England’s player of the year (England Football).

The aggressive midfield man isn’t the Whites only man in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, though.

Alongside Phillips, Patrick Bamford has been called up to the current squad, although he failed to get off the bench in the 4-0 win versus Hungary.

While at some point Leeds fans will get the chance to see their goal machine in action for his country, they weren’t at all happy to see him left on the bench on Thursday.

Goals from Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Harry Maguire and Declan Rice meant that the finishing capabilities of Bamford weren’t required on the night.

However, Leeds fans would have loved to have seen their man get some action off the bench in the final minutes, even with the game wrapped up.

It is not as if Bamford doesn’t deserve it, either.

The 27-year-old scored 17 and assisted a further eight last season in the Premier League and was unlucky not to make the England squad for the Euros.

Ahead of Bamford over the summer were Kane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Marcus Rashford, but now Bamford has a chance to cement his place under Southgate.

While he did not feature against Hungary, games against both Andorra on Sunday and Poland on Wednesday provide potential minutes for Bamford.

If he can step up and score a couple of goals in the remaining fixtures of this international break, the chances are he will remain in contention for the next England squad in October.
