Bailey Peacock-Farrell was given the nod by Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill on Thursday night in the Euro 2020 qualifier against Estonia – and Leeds fans were impressed with his excellent display.
Goals from Aberdeen winger Niall McGinn and on-loan Rangers midfielder Steven Davis from the penalty spot earned a crucial three points in their first qualifying match of the campaign. They already sit second in Group C.
Leeds stopper Peacock-Farrell was picked over Norwich City’s Michael McGovern and Celtic’s Conor Hazard, despite dropping to the bench under Marcelo Bielsa following the arrival of Kiko Casilla in January from Real Madrid.

But he impressed throughout the night in terms of kicking, organisation and turning up with the goods when called upon. His best moment came in the 70th minute, with the score crucially still at 1-0.
Henri Anier was played through on goal but the Estonia winger could not find his way past Peacock-Farrell. The Leeds stopper stayed big, and denied Estonia an equaliser. Minutes later, Davis made it 2-0.
The 22-year-old is set to make his first Leeds appearance next weekend since January, with Casilla suspended. Leeds United fans took to Twitter to applaud their academy product, keeping a close eye ahead of their next match.
