Caleb Ekuban has hit the ground running after completing a permanent move from Leeds United to Trabzonspor earlier in the summer and he scored a hat-trick on Thursday night – which has stunned Leeds fans on Twitter.
Ekuban, 25, struggled at Leeds after first joining the Whites in the summer of 2017. But he managed just two goals in 21 outings for the Whites under both Thomas Christiansen and Paul Heckingbottom.
Marcelo Bielsa declared Ekuban surplus to requirements, and he was loaned to SuperLig side Trabzonspor for 2018-19. The striker scored eight goals and laid on three assists last term, clocking up 36 appearances in all competitions.
His impressive form saw him even earn four Ghana caps, in which he has scored two goals. This summer, he completed a permanent move to Trabzonspor which could see him partner England international Daniel Sturridge up front.
He has got off to a flyer this season, scoring and laying on an assist against Sparta Prague and then on Thursday he netted a hat-trick against Greek giants AEK Athens. Marko Livaja opened the scoring for AEK.

But Ekuban and Trabzonspor came roaring back, with Ekuban half-volleying an effort into the net from a corner. A second was nodded into the back of the net by Ekuban from another corner, before the striker scored a right-footed effort in the second 45.
Leeds fans reacted after hearing that their former striker – who was signed by Victor Orta from Italian side Chievo – had found the back of the net three times against a very strong side in AEK Athens, and many applauded the striker’s efforts.

I honestly think Bielsa could have made a player out of him 💙💛MOT

Caleb Ekuban hat trick tonight. I watched him tear Sunderland, Barnsley and a few other teams apart between his injuries for us a couple of seasons ago. I liked him, he was fast and direct but he fell right out of favour. He COULD be one we regret losing you know? #LUFC
