Leeds United supporters would have been forgiven for feeling ahead of their clash with Hull City on Tuesday that stopping Jarrod Bowen would be crucial to their chances of gaining a seventh straight win.
Bowen has already scored 14 goals this season. He also produced a brilliant performance in the same fixture last season when Hull won 2-0 at Elland Road.
And it appears that those working behind those scenes at Leeds are big fans of the 22-year-old. 90 min reported earlier this week that the Whites were one of the teams interested in signing the winger.
And with reports from the Daily Express suggesting that Bowen is valued at £20 million by the Tigers, it is not difficult to see why Leeds fans were concerned about how much of an impact he would have.
However, those concerns were alleviated as Leeds picked up a 2-0 win. The victory has returned the Whites to the top of the Championship. And it is fair to say that Bowen was unable to make much of an impression.
The youngster was rarely involved during the first-half. He did seem to make more an impact in the early stages of the second-half. He did however, appear to have to drop deep to get onto the ball before running at the defence. And one of the visitors’ best chances came when he did manage to get into some space.
‘Did Jarrod Bowen play tonight?’
But it appears that the Leeds fans were not overly impressed with what they saw from Bowen. They felt that Stuart Dallas did a brilliant job of keeping him quiet.
Some have joked that they are not even sure that he was playing. But there is no question that Bowen is a fantastic prospect. And Leeds will take a lot of confidence from his performance.
Here is what some of the fans made of Bowen’s display…
