Leeds United may have got off to a perfect start in the Championship, but the loan window remains open and Marcelo Bielsa could look to bolster his squad with the acquisition of a former player – Fares Bahlouli.

Yahoo Sport France journalist Manu Lonjon say that the Whites are keen on trying to bring the 23-year-old, who played in eight of Bielsa’s 15 games in charge of Lille, where he remains to this day with a contract until 2020.

The attacking midfielder is an exciting prospect who has been capped at under 21 level by France but is yet to kick on as many had hoped after he initially broke through with Lyon and then Monaco.

“Bielsa has a very clear way of playing.”

Bahlouli praised the coach when they worked together in France.

Last season he played only 11 league games for the club and is keen to get regular game time to show his creative nature in an attacking midfield role, though his flexibility means that he can also play on either flank if required.

It seems that Bielsa sees him as a potential alternative to the likes of Samu Saiz, playing in behind forwards like Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford, and he has shown the passing ability to create opportunities for them.

There is no doubt that Bahlouli has plenty of potential and if Bielsa is keen to look to reunite with him, then it clearly speaks volumes. Leeds’ success to date in his short spell at the club shows that the club can trust his decisions, particularly when it comes to getting the best out of players.

Investing in such a loan move may provide the depth required to mount a serious promotion challenge and live up to the hopes and dreams of fans of a Premier League return at long last.
