Ex-Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen congratulated his former club after their promotion from the Championship was confirmed on Friday – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter expressed their gratitude to him.
Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa has got the Yorkshire club over the line with automatic promotion from the Championship and a single point in their final two games will mean they go up as champions.
They have managed to remain consistent throughout the entire season to be in the running for a top-two finish and kept up their standards following the resumption of this season.
Christiansen took charge of Leeds back in June 2017 when selected by new owner Andrea Radrizzani and was dismissed in February 2018 leaving the club 10th in the Championship at the time.
The Danish boss worked with a large section of the current squad that have achieved promotion to the top-flight, while also signing key players such as Mateusz Klich and Tyler Roberts.
“Congrats to everyone at Leeds United for this big achievement. The team is finally back in the Premier League. Enjoy guys,” Christiansen wrote on his personal Twitter account.
A selection of Whites supporters on Twitter were quick to offer some kind words to Christiansen and believe he certainly played his role in their Championship journey.
But it was fan favourite Bielsa that was the manager to achieve promotion and mark his name into the club’s history.
Here are some Leeds fans responding to their former boss on social media:
