Leeds fans reckon Di Marzio report could be a sign that De Paul is on his way to ER

Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Serie A side Udinese are closing in on a move to sign Watford midfielder Roberto Pereyra in a move that sees the Pozzo connection take force once again – but a potential move has left Leeds fans excited.

Watford suffered relegation to the Championship and are expected to shift a number of high-paid players before the end of the window. Pereyra, 29, is an example of just that – with the Argentina international expected to end a four-year spell at Watford.

Giampaolo Pozzo is currently the owner of Udinese and is renowned for being one of the most tight-fisted negotiators in European football, though the Serie A side have a strong connection with Watford – with Giampaolo’s son Gino in control.

Pereyra played for Udinese before joining Watford and is now set to return to the Italian side, with Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claiming Pereyra could return to Udinese in the next few days. Such a move could help newly-promoted Leeds.

The Mirror claim Leeds are desperate to sign De Paul but are only willing to pay £22.3million at the moment, far below Udinese’s asking price. De Paul captained Udinese on numerous occasions last season, proving to be one of their best players.

De Paul has even shown on Twitter that he wants to join Leeds with a Tweet to a Whites fan, and supporters of the Yorkshire club reckon Udinese tying up a deal for Pereyra is a sign that De Paul is on his way out.
