Leeds United remained in the Championship’s automatic promotion spots after Sheffield United drew 1-1 against Birmingham at St Andrew’s on Wednesday night.
The Blades dropped two points on the same ground Leeds dropped all three on Saturday to give Marcelo Bielsa’s side the advantage in the rollercoaster race to reach the top flight.
And Chris Wilder gave his thoughts to the Yorkshire Evening Post after the match, and preached the importance of staying level-headed, even as the pressure ramps up.
He said: “I’ll just talk about the accumulation of points. I can’t be a rollercoaster myself. We have to keep nice and calm. One match doesn’t decide anything, especially at this stage. We’re going to take it right down to the wire.”
But despite the way Wilder played down the result, some Leeds fans gleefully mocked the Blades boss, claiming that he is cracking up despite what he said.
That might be wishful thinking, but Wilder wouldn’t be human if he wasn’t feeling the pressure at this stage – and it’s hard to disagree with his assertion that the race will go right to the end of the season.
We’ve put together the best of the reaction from Leeds supporters…
Wilders’s feeling the pressure. For all those words of his, read…. “I’m bricking it”.
