Andre Gray endured a frustrating Thursday night in Watford’s defeat to Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup – and some Leeds United fans on Twitter were not impressed by the performance of their reported striker target.
The Evening Standard previously reported in January that the 28-year-old Watford forward is on the Whites radar.
It is understood that Nottingham Forest are also interested in the Englishman this month and have made contact, as there is a chance he could exit on loan.
Gray captained Premier League Watford against League One Tranmere in midweek and the lower league opposition pulled off a shock 2-1 victory after extra-time.
The Leeds target completed 120 minutes of action in the contest and failed to provide a serious goal threat.
He’s managed just two goals in 23 games across all competitions this campaign and is struggling to make a serious impact in Nigel Pearson’s side.
A selection of Leeds supporters on social media ripped into the Watford centre-forward for his cup performance and claimed they don’t want him at Elland Road.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team desperately need more firepower in attack to support Patrick Bamford and have been linked with with several names.
Gray may be struggling to make a serious impact in the top-flight, but he’s proven in the past that he can be a decent goalscorer.
He’s played 88 Championship games in his career and scored a healthy 41 goals in return.
