A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that they are now convinced that Eddie Nketiah will be returning to Arsenal after his interaction with the supporters after being substituted during their dramatic 5-4 win over Birmingham City.
Leeds have returned to the top of the Championship after an incredible game at St Andrew’s. The Whites went 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3 up, but they were pegged back every time.

And with Birmingham’s fourth goal coming in stoppage-time, it appeared that the points would be shared. But an own goal would then ensure that Leeds went back in front. And on that occasion, Marcelo Bielsa’s side held on.
It was a remarkable way for Leeds to round off the decade. But the scoreline may not have been the only talking point to emerge from the game.

Nketiah made his first league start for the club amid speculation that he could be recalled in January. Patrick Bamford missed the game through injury. And the Gunners loanee would have been hoping to prove a point.
He did not get onto the scoresheet. But the youngster certainly seemed to make an impact. He was electric during the first-half, and arguably showed that he could tick some of the same boxes as Bamford.
Did Nketiah wave goodbye?
However, some fans are now fearful that it may prove to be his first and last start for Leeds. Nketiah was substituted with just under 10 minutes remaining. And his response to his number coming up has alarmed a number of supporters.
Nketiah appeared to make a point of waving to the fans as he left the pitch, as well as applauding them. It must be noted that he may have been looking to take up some additional time. But some are convinced that he may have been waving goodbye ahead of the January window opening.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Nketiah. But it is telling that many supporters took the same message from how Nketiah left the field.
Here is what some of the fans were saying about Nketiah’s reaction to being substituted…
