Leeds fans react to Marcelo Bielsa's Mateusz Klich decision
A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to react after Marcelo Bielsa confirmed that Mateusz Klich will sit out the final two games of the season.
For most Premier League bosses, it would arguably be highly unusual to rest one of their best performers for the final stages of the campaign – particularly to seemingly give them the best chance of being fully ready for their country and a major tournament.
But that is exactly what Bielsa has done with Klich. In comments reported by Leeds Live, the Whites boss confirmed that the 30-year-old is not injured, but will miss the games with Southampton and West Brom.
It comes off the back of two of Klich’s best displays this season. He was outrageously good against Spurs, and scored a superb goal against Burnley on Saturday.
But those displays came after a difficult spell for the Poland international. He had previously looked to be well short of his best. In fact, there was plenty of concern amongst supporters about what had happened to the midfielder.
And that is perhaps why Bielsa has decided to rest him – and the fans love him for it.
Many feel that it is a fantastic decision to hand Klich a break. He did not miss a single league game under Bielsa until promotion was confirmed last season. And he has rarely missed out this year, too.
Leeds still have plenty to play for. Perhaps the stakes are not too high, but they could still push higher up the table. And they could also fall out of the top-half.
So it is still a brave decision to leave Klich out. And that is why so many supporters are so impressed that Bielsa has put the Leeds star at the forefront of his mind, rather than the team’s fortunes.
With that in mind, here is what some of the fans made of Bielsa’s decision…
This is a brilliant move. Klich runs more than most, plays for the hardest manager, and has been non-stop including internationals for 3 years. Well deserved and smart from #lufc https://t.co/JaAyP1qgRJ

Good, all makes sense…I do personally wish the players had a proper summer this year without the Euros, but sure we’ll be fine!! Just hope to see Pablo at Elland Road next Sunday…IF he is going then start him, make him Captain, and let us give him a proper send off!!

I think he know klich needs a nice break. Been class last two games. But let someone else have a go

Nice gesture from Bielsa. Until he was rested recently he had played every game for Marcelo and covered a lot of ground.

Best decision for Koch & Klich, especially as they will be involved in the Euros, Klich especially needs a break #LUFC

When I first read it, it was strange. Now it makes complete sense. Koch has a hip injury and Klich has been worked like a dog all season. We can manage the last two without them and hopefully it sets them up well for the Euros!

Agreed. Klich has been playing relentlessly three seasons on a rows with so little breaks in between. Deserves a little bit of extra rest
