A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments from Marcelo Bielsa – reported by Leeds Live – where he seemed to hint that Gjanni Alioski would start Saturday’s clash with Manchester City.
The Whites go into the game with Pep Guardiola’s side looking for their third league win in a row. And they are coming up against a City side that conceded five against Leicester City in their most recent league fixture.
Unfortunately for Leeds however, they will be without Jack Harrison. The winger is currently on loan from the Cityzens, so will be ineligible for the game.
It will be a particular blow as Harrison was the man to provide the cross that led to Patrick Bamford’s winner against Sheffield United last time out.
But Bielsa seemed confident that his replacement will be up to the task. It certainly appears that Alioski will be the man to come in.
“Harrison is very important. We are sad he is not going to play, and Alioski is able to do as well or better than Harrison,” he said, as reported by Leeds Live.
The 28-year-old is yet to start a Premier League fixture. But he has come off the bench in the last two games. And he was extremely impressive in the final weeks of last season.
Harrison leaves incredibly big shoes to fill. But plenty of Leeds fans are excited to see Alioski up against Kyle Walker.
Some are intrigued, or even fascinated, to see how the contest will go if the North Macedonian features on the left wing.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to Bielsa’s comments which hint that Alioski will start this weekend…
Kind of excited to see what happens when Alioski meets the EPL.

Alioski is 100% the right bloke to step in for Harrison. Him barking, screaming and whining at their back 4, in the words of Charlie Nicholas
“the sheer volume of noise has terrified them”

Alioski against City will be interesting

For any Leeds fans questioning abilities of Alioski/ suitability to be Harrison’s replacement on Saturday I’ve got stats. Alioski has a better Goals to Games ratio & a similar Assists to Games ratio with a lot of his game time having been at left back. Nothing to worry about.

The more I think about it the more I love the idea for alioski charging at Kyle Walker and seeing the panic on his face

Alioski to start. Kyle Walker wont have a clue what is going to hit him.

We need more West Brom at home, Alioski, less Hull in the cup at home, Alioski, a lot less.

#lufc alioski loves a big game, can’t wait to see him run at the man City defence while imitating every animal to ever exist, extinct or living.

Alioski is brilliant and always steps up to the plate, he will do a job, I have faith, but to say he can do as well as or better than Harrison I have to disagree lol nevertheless I’m happy with him stepping in 😃
