Leeds fans react to fresh Dan James interest reports

If Leeds United are going to sign a player in the final hours of the summer transfer window, the smart money would suggest that Dan James is the player most likely to be holding the Whites’ shirt – again.

The Sun reported at the weekend that James could leave Manchester United following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

It was claimed that Leeds were amongst a host of clubs told to make an offer for the Wales international.

And The Athletic has now suggested that the Whites are open to making a loan or permanent offer for the 23-year-old.

Interestingly, the report added that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men value James at more than £20 million. But Leeds apparently have the funds to make a deal happen.

It is no secret just how close James came to moving to Elland Road in 2019. And The Athletic notes that Marcelo Bielsa remains an admirer.

The notion that James may end up joining Leeds has divided many of the supporters on social media.

For some, a move makes little sense. Leeds have two outstanding wingers in Jack Harrison and Raphinha. And James has not had the easiest time across the Pennines.

Those sceptical fans would rather see a central midfielder signed.

Bielsa is clearly a big fan of the speedy wide-man. And Leeds arguably need more potential game-changers in their ranks.
