Leeds fans react to Charlie Cresswell’s under-23 display

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Charlie Cresswell’s display as the Whites’ under-23s beat Burnley 4-1 on Monday.

Mark Jackson’s men were tasked with restoring some positivity following the FA Cup result at the weekend. And they certainly managed to produce the goods.

Crysencio Summerville, unsurprisingly, took many of the headlines. The winger was outstanding and scored a superb hat-trick for the visitors.

But there were also a number of excellent performances from Summerville’s teammates. And Cresswell looked to be the player who attracted amongst the most plaudits on social media following the game.

Cresswell was perhaps unlucky not to be involved for the first-team on Sunday. He was, once again, excellent in possession for Leeds, making a number of long-range diagonal passes out to Summerville.

He also dealt with the conditions brilliantly. Cresswell rarely seemed to miss a challenge, and never lost his composure as the ball bobbled around on numerous occasions.

‘Reminds me of Ben White’

Sunday’s defeat to Crawley painfully highlighted the step up the under-23 players need to make before they are ready for the first-team fold.

But plenty of fans are more than confident that Cresswell – who made his debut earlier this season – is on his way to the senior fold. One compared the 18-year-old to Ben White, while several suggested that he is likely to be the next promoted by Marcelo Bielsa.
