Bristol City have informed every other Championship club that they will only be kicking the ball out of play in the case of a head injury this season.
As per the Guardian, the Robins have apparently sent an email around their 23 divisional rivals to clear up their policy on the issue, with it being a flashpoint during Sunday’s opening match against Leeds United too.
Lee Johnson said: “It’s fine. We sent an email out to the clubs because this happens often. Somebody goes down and sometimes it’s tactical, because people try and gain an advantage and sometimes it’s genuine.
“So we just decided as a club that we’re going to make a rule for the 46 games that we’re going to let the referee manage the game. So therefore if that’s our player injured or the opposition player injured, there’s a consistency there.”

Johnson hasn’t always been the most popular among Leeds fans, but many of them took to Twitter to agree with his club’s stance on this point.
Leeds had a flashpoint on that front with the controversy against Aston Villa towards the end of last season and increased clarity and common sense over the situation can only be a good thing for players and clubs.
