Leeds United’s managing director Angus Kinnear has explained that the current Championship season needs to be concluded – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded to agree with him.
The current Championship campaign still has nine games left to play and has been suspended until at least the beginning of April, along with all other leagues in England following the outbreak of coronavirus.
Whites chief Kinnear has explained that the current league campaign needs to be completed when it’s medically advisable to return to action.
“I think the broad principle is that you maintain the integrity of the competitions and when the time comes and it is safe to do so, you finish the leagues,” he told LUTV, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“I think everybody is starting to feel this is the right thing to do and it is certainly our opinion, we think it maintains the integrity of the Football League pyramid and the competitions.
“We would like our supporters to be able to witness the rest of the season with us and by playing the games, it also helps the clubs financially, particularly further down the pyramid.”

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media have given a major thumbs up to comments from their managing director and are desperate to see the season concluded in full.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team sit top of the Championship standings right now chasing down automatic promotion and are looking to make a return to the Premier League, but there is real concern within the fanbase about how the season will conclude due to the break for health reasons.
The Yorkshire giants have worked extremely hard to get themselves into a position at the top of the league and a top-flight return looks within their grasp if the season does conclude.
