Alarm bells were immediately ringing for Leeds United fans when Northern Ireland’s squad was announced for their Euro 2020 qualifier with Germany on Tuesday and Stuart Dallas was left out of the starting lineup.
No player in Michael O’Neill’s squad has arguably proved more valuable than Dallas. His importance was highlighted in remarkable fashion last week when he played in four different positions in the goalless draw against the Netherlands.

Even with Northern Ireland having little to play for in Frankfurt, Dallas’s absence would have worried a lot of Leeds supporters. And it appears that the explanation will do little to alleviate those concerns.
The Yorkshire Evening Post has reported that Dallas was left out of the side because he felt some tightness in his hamstring. It has been suggested that he will be assessed by Leeds on Wednesday.

Leeds fans worried
And the Elland Road faithful are extremely concerned about what the prognosis will prove to be. Dallas has been outstanding for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season in a number of roles.
It has been a brilliant turnaround for the 28-year-old. He had struggled to win his critics round for much of last season. But he has responded superbly and arguably been Leeds’s surprise of the season alongside Ben White.
Leeds fans know all too well what it feels like to see a key man struck down by injury. And they are already convinced that the news in the coming days is not going to be good.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to Dallas’s absence from Northern Ireland’s squad…
