A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Sam Greenwood after the youngster’s performance for the under-23s in their clash with Manchester City.
Mark Jackson’s men were beaten 3-2 by the Cityzens after a late winner. It was a significant occasion for the Whites with Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford returning from injury.

Ayling came off at the break for Leeds. But Bamford saw out the full 90 minutes with Leo Hjelde’s injury before the break potentially throwing a spanner in the works regarding the substitutions.
The two first-team stars were somewhat overshadowed by some superb performances for the younger players on show. City certainly played some stunning football going forward.

But Leeds landed some blows of their own. And Greenwood was potentially the star of the show for the visitors.
The forward was excellent in those areas around Bamford. And he opened the scoring after Crysencio Summerville won a first-half penalty.
He scored a brilliant second after the break, cutting inside and squeezing the ball in at the near post after some superb work down the right.
Unfortunately, a late Kristoffer Klaesson mistake cost Leeds. The goalkeeper spilled the ball in the final minutes to present the golden chance for the winner.
But there were certainly positives. And Greenwood was picked out by many as the standout.
The 19-year-old looked a class act throughout the evening. He also came close with a first-half free-kick.

Of course, Joe Gelhardt is the youngster that most Leeds fans are most excited about right now. But plenty clearly feel that Greenwood remains right behind as they look to catch Marcelo Bielsa’s eye.
